LA LUNE FOLLE – a short film by Meneka Das
We are thrilled to have produced the new short film from Indian Writer/Director Meneka Das. ‘La Lune Folle’ is a music based contemporary period drama and was filmed in Cornwall and London. The film is currently screening at film festivals around the globe. In January 2017 the film won the Best Short Film award (NRI) at the Rajasthan International Film Festival.
The film follows young pianist Carly as she auditions for a renowned music conservatoire. The film stars legendary Welsh actress Dame Sian Phillips, Yazmin Joy Vigus and professional cellist Ashok Klouda. The score was recorded at Abbey Road Studios in Studio 3 and features a brand new arrangement by Andrew T. Mackay of Debussy’s ‘Clair De Lune’ for Piano Quartet.
After the loss of a loved one, timid Carly struggles to face her audition at a prestigious music conservatoire. As she awaits her turn in the empty corridor, a picture of a 19th Century young & confident woman on the wall catches her eye. Desperate to find courage Carly escapes into a fantasy. Imagining herself as the young woman, she is no longer afraid of facing her audition but also of letting go of more deeper fears.
