We’ve been working with Chennai based composer Santhosh Narayanan for the last few years and have worked on a host films with him including Server Sundaram, Pariyerum Perumal, Mercury, Kabali & Bairavaa. He is always innovative musically challenging himself to do something different with each score and each song.
Most recently we had the privilege of working on Kaala the recently released blockbuster featuring the legend that is Rajanikanth. For this we were asked to master the songs from the film. We knew there would be a few as its a Rajinikanth film running at almost 2 hours and 45 minutes! Santhosh had written eight songs and there would be three language versions and a few extra tracks including a stunning accapella track.
For mastering we chose Abbey Road mastering engineer Alex Gordon as our preferred choice. Eventually he mastered 27 tracks and a final track was mastered by Simon Gibson as I think Alex needed a break. (He actually postponed his holiday to complete the project working on a Sunday – un heard of in the UK – Dedicated guy!)
We also organised the orchestral recording sessions for the score with the Macedonian Symphonic Orchestra. Recording Engineer Conductor Giorgi Hristovski recorded the orchestra in their new studio in Skopje, Macedonia led by conductor maestro Oleg Kondratenko.
Furthermore we also recorded one of the UK’s leading Trumpet players Louis Dowdeswell for the song Yama Greatu
